ISO Coordinator and Inspector

An established Pittsburgh based tool & die and precision machine shop is searching for a Full-Time ISO Coordinator and Inspector. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience with a focus on quality and productivity. He or she must be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as with a team, and have a desire to continuously improve their skill sets and technical knowledge.

Job Summary

Oversee all aspects of quality management system. The Quality Coordinator's responsibilities include inspecting processes, and products, ensuring compliance with new and existing quality standards and regulations, implementing quality management actions, and contributing to the development of company policies and procedures. The Quality Coordinator provides quality support to projects from the planning phase to project completion to ensure manufactured products meet the specified standards and specifications of the drawing and the parts meet quality standards.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for coordinating activities to ensure the manufacturing facility Quality Management System is meeting ISO requirements.
  • Activities to include but not limited to: Participates in the coordination and execution of Operations Quality Management System.
  • Works to ensure process and procedures are controlled, accurate in reflecting the current process and meet expectations a defined in the company (ISO) policy.
  • Provides leadership for Quality Management System internal audits.
  • Participates in the External Audits for ISO certification.
  • Report out on ISO findings. Review ISO corrective actions / preventative actions (CAPAs).
  • Develops, evaluates, revises, and implements QMS documentation.
  • Conducts visual and dimensional tests to ensure quality of finished products.
  • Fundamental mechanical and mathematical inspection knowledge.
  • Familiar with the use of all inspection hand gauging including but not limited to; micrometers, thread gauges, dial indicators, vernier calipers, height gauges, internal and external thread gauges, ID/OD mics, bore gauges, and etc.
  • Comfortable programming CMM for automated part verification.
  • Have robust knowledge of GD&T, blueprint and specs interpretation.
  • Determines and uses appropriate inspection processes to confirm products and parts meet specifications.
  • Confirms and approves quality of finished parts.
  • Determines whether parts not meeting specifications can be salvaged.
  • Documents measured results of machining operations.
  • Prepares paperwork and reports documenting inspection findings.
  • Capable of coordinating the inspection planning of a job.
  • Responsible for calibration programs that monitor and control production and QC gauges.
  • Experience working on a manufacturing team with machinists and engineers.
  • Able to work as a team player with minimal supervision of required tasks.
  • A high degree of organization, reporting capabilities, effective communication and capable. of interacting with internal and external customers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Independently perform basic maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain plant & office cleanliness and organization.

Qualifications

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree required, plus 2 or more years of experience in an ISO certified manufacturing environment machine shop experience, or equivalent education.
  • Extensive knowledge of inspection and measurement techniques and equipment.
  • Proficient at reading and understanding measuring devices
  • Proficient at reading and understanding blueprints and shop drawings
  • General knowledge of machining and machining processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word to prepare reports.

Preferred

  • Completed ISO internal auditor training
  • Experience in a machine shop environment.

  • Flexible
  • Day shift
  • Monday-Friday
